Market Validation

See it running at Eaton Customer Experience Centers in the US

Running at Eaton Customer Experience Centers. SwitchMon® technology is installed and running on the energized switchgear line-ups at Eaton Customer Experience Centers in the US. The centers welcome customer visits: ask your Eaton contact to arrange a tour and see the technology in action on real equipment, live.

Adoption is the validation. SwitchMon® technology reaches the market through electrical industry partners who engineer it into their own equipment and NFPA 70B electrical maintenance offerings. The partner brands are below.

Independent Reliability Testing

Accelerated life testing at SGS, commissioned by a global OEM

15 years
of continuous operation demonstrated for the sensors: 90% reliability at 90% confidence
0
sensor failures across both accelerated life test programs
197 days
of chamber testing: thermal cycling and high temperature, high humidity

InfraSensing sensor platform mounted on the accelerated life test rack
InfraSensing did not commission this test. A global electrical OEM commissioned SGS to run accelerated life testing on the sensor platform as part of qualifying it for use with its own critical power equipment. The commissioning OEM is not identified; every figure is stated exactly as reported.

Two accelerated programs, one platform. Thermal cycling from 0°C to 70°C and a high temperature, high humidity program at 70°C and 90% RH, on 67 devices across 12 product types per program, including the thermography sensors, the daisy chained infrared sensors and the sensor gateways. Test durations were planned with the Modified Coffin-Manson equation and Peck's Law at 90% reliability and 90% confidence.

Zero sensor failures. No sensor failed in either program: 15 years of continuous operation demonstrated for the sensors, 20 years for the gateways. Two gateways failed on an Ethernet port during the humidity program; the units were replaced, the test duration was extended per the failure allowance protocol, and the gateways still passed.

Redacted summary available on request. A redacted summary of the test report can be shared with specifiers and AHJs; the commissioning OEM is not identified in it. Request the summary.

Safety Listings & Certifications

cULus Listed to UL 62368-1 · file E504803 · quarterly factory surveillance

OEM specifications and electrical maintenance programs call for listed equipment, and Listed and Recognized are not interchangeable terms. A listing verifies the complete device to the product safety standard, with ongoing factory surveillance: production is audited by UL four times a year under Follow-Up Services.

The M Series thermography sensors are cULus Listed to UL 62368-1 under file E504803 and certified to IEC 62368-1. Ask which standard, which file number, and whether a device is Listed or Recognized: this listing can be verified at source in the UL Product iQ directory under E504803.

Patents & IP

Three granted US patents, stated exactly

SwitchMon patented IR window mounted thermography sensor
Granted means granted. Continuous thermography on SwitchMon® is protected by three granted US patents, inventor Maarten Van Laere:

Thermography sensor: US 10,455,166
Daisy chained thermography sensors: US 12,253,416
IR window mounted thermography sensor: US 12,292,334

Each number is verifiable in the USPTO full text database. Where an application elsewhere in the platform is still pending, it is described as pending, never as patented.
